Clima

El clima en Torreón es MUY caliente. Hay veranos en los que hemos llegado hasta los 48 °C (118 °F aprox).  Mi estación del año favorita es invierno por que aquí no hace tanto frío. Lo más frío que llegamos este año fueron 2 °C (35°F) que casi no es frío. Lo más frío que recuerdo que Torreón ha estado son -7 °C (19 °F).

Winter Break

This winter break, just after school ended, I went to McAllen to visit some family before Christmas. We left on the 21st and we went to Saltillo (the capital of Coahuila), which is 2 hrs 30 mins away from Torreon, there I saw more family and stayed for Christmas. Also I went to see The Hobbit with my cousins. I ate a lot of tamales. On the 27th approx. and returned to Torreon. My cousins from Chihuahua came here and they stayed with my grampas. After that we celebrated New Year in here and that's all. lol

DAY OF THE DEAD

The day of the dead

The day of the dead is a Mexican tradition, it starts November 2nd. It's like may 5th for you. We are preparing an altar de muertos in art class, the altar de muertos haves some steps that mean something and have specific objects like food, photos of the dead person, salt, flowers of cempasuchil, calveras de azucar, and other things i don't remember. They look like this .

It's a free day of school and it's a tradition to be with your family that day. Starting October all Mexican supermarkets sell Pan de Muerto and calaveras de azucar (the calaveras de azucar suck).

Franco Valdez

My name is Franco Valdez and I am 14 years old. I live in Torreon in the state of Coahuila. I am studying 8^th at Colegio Ingles.

My family is my father Camilo, my mother Laura, and my 2 older brothers Luis and Diego. My two brothers are studying in Monterrey so I am the only one of my brother living in my house right now.

I have many hobbies I play basketball I am 1.8 m tall that’s almost 6 feet. I like to play videogames right now I am playing the Last of Us, the new Terraria patch, and Minecraft. I like to play music with my keyboard or my guitar, I like rock, progressive, music.

I have traveled to  San Antonio, Ruidoso, Orlando, and McAllen in the US. This summer I went to Costa Rica. There I went to San Jose, La Fortuna, Monteverde, Volcan Arenal and to Volcan Irazu. In Mexico I have gone to Saltillo, Mexico City, Monterrey, San Luis, Guadalajara and Queretaro.
